RV Insurance and Coverage Options
|
| The ability to pick up and go any where in the United
States at any time of the year has made the Recreational Vehicle a
popular choice among hardcore travelers. Unfortunatly, purchasing
a used or new motor home, camping trailer, travel trailers and truck
camper can be very expensive. The yearly maintenance can also put
a dent into your financial situation. RV is an investment that should
be protected incase of an accident, theft or vandalism. |

RV Coverage
|
| Below is a list of insurance coverages you can expect
to see at most insurance providers: |
| |
Total Loss Replacement
|
Total loss replacement is a coverage option
that pays for the total damage of any type of recreational vehicle
with in a specified period of time. Each insurance provider varies
between the specific time period, but the average time is about 5
years.
|
| |
Full Timers' Coverage
|
Full timers' coverage is an option for individuals
who use their RV as permanent residence or live live in their motor
coach, trailer, or 5th wheel for 5 straight months. Full timers' coverage
is much like "homeowners insurance", because it treats your
coach or trailer much like your house. This coverage gives you liability
protection against an accident that may occur inside or outside your
campsite. This means that any materials including clothing, bedding,
tools, computers, cameras, bicycles, etc can be covered. Some materials
have a unit limit. For example, one insurance agency may put a 300
limit on clothing, bedding or tools.
|
| |
Emergency Vacation Expenses Allowance
|
Most insurance providers will offer some sort of vacation
expenses coverage incase a vacation mishap. This coverage normally
would cover any minor repair, towing, storage, temporary housing,
travel expense and cost of returning your RV back home or to a repair
shop.
|
| |
Personal Effects Coverage
|
Some RV insurance policies do not cover your personal
possessions. Many agencies have coverage's specifically for personal
property located inside or outside the recreational vehicle.
|
| |
Mileage Based Coverage
|
| Mileage based coverage is an insurance option for customers
who rather insure their RV based upon the amount of mileage used within
a specified period of time. |
| |
Towing Coverage
|
| Most insurance companies offer a seperate towing coverage
option from their other plans. The coverage is normally setup with
a maximum monetary value for towing expenses. For example, one insurance
agency may pay up to $3000 dollars for towing expenses. |
